Las Vegas civil service trustees certify eligible lists, approve minutes and adjourn

LAS VEGAS — The Board of Civil Service Trustees met April 8 and unanimously approved routine personnel actions including certification and extension of multiple eligible lists, corrected classification specifications and the minutes of the March 25 meeting, the board said.

Vice Chair Panattoni called the roll; Members Brown, Hesch, Stamper and Jimenez were recorded present, establishing a quorum. The City Clerk, LuAnn D. Holmes, confirmed the meeting complied with the open meeting law and explained how to obtain packet materials from the City Clerk’s office or the city website.

The board then approved the minutes from its March 25 meeting after a motion recorded in the transcript as moved by a member identified there as “Member Hash.” The item passed on a voice vote. The board next certified eligible lists for multiple job classifications, including aquatics leader, corrections lieutenant (promotional), court clerk and senior engineering associate; Member Stamper moved to approve item 5 as read, and the motion passed unanimously.

Item 6 extended eligible lists for a range of positions — including deputy city marshal lateral officers, DPS communications specialist, fire communication supervisor (promotional), laboratory quality assurance officer, maintenance mechanic, plant operator and others — after a motion in the transcript by the member identified as “Member Hash.” The board approved a corrected classification specification for materials testing technician and senior materials testing technician (item 7) on a motion by Member Stamper. The board also voted to abolish the eligible list for pool technician (item 8) following a motion recorded in the transcript as moved by the member identified as “Member Hash.”

Each motion on the published agenda was approved by voice vote. The board opened the citizens participation portion of the meeting, noted that comments must be limited to matters within its jurisdiction and, with no members of the public speaking, adjourned.
