The Easton School Committee on May 14 approved Superintendent Cabral's recommendation to appoint Anne Weintraub as assistant superintendent of Easton Public Schools, effective July 1, 2026, pending successful contract negotiations.
Cabral described a lengthy internal search and an interview committee that reviewed candidates against district pillars including leadership, vision, communication and operational excellence. Christina DiNapoli, the district's director of human resources, summarized the vetting process and said the committee reached a unanimous decision to move the internal candidate forward. Cabral said Weintraub has about 32 years of experience in the district, including roles as teacher, reading specialist and principal, and praised her curriculum leadership and work overseeing intervention and ELL services.
Committee members who spoke in favor recalled Weintraub's long service at Center School and Blanche Ames, her classroom relationships and the positive letters from staff cited during the hiring process. The motion to approve Cabral's recommendation was made from the floor, seconded, and approved by the committee.
Weintraub accepted the appointment at the meeting and said she was honored to continue serving the district where she has spent her career. In brief remarks she pledged to "lead with integrity, compassion and purpose," to strengthen relationships and to keep student learning central to decisions.
The appointment vote was procedural: the superintendent recommended a candidate, the committee approved the recommendation, and the hire will proceed pending contract negotiation. The committee did not record a detailed roll-call tally in the public portion of the meeting.
Next steps include contract negotiations and an onboarding period in which Weintraub will meet with district leaders and transition into the new role.
