Commissioners proclaim Feb. 6, 2026 as Big Valley FFA chartering date

The Mifflin County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 19, 2026 approved a proclamation recognizing the National FFA Organization’s official chartering of the Big Valley FFA Alumni and Supporters Chapter and designated Feb. 6, 2026 as the chapter’s chartering date. Commissioner Kovish read the proclamation and the motion to adopt it was approved by voice vote.

The proclamation, presented by Commissioner Kovish, praised the chapter’s efforts to “develop premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education,” and noted the group’s inaugural meeting and planned spring alumni activities during National FFA Week. A representative of the Big Valley FFA, who was not named on the record, thanked the board and said the chapter currently has “about 10, 10 to 15 right now” members and is welcoming additional supporters.

The board’s proclamation commended the chapter’s commitment to agricultural education and community engagement and encouraged continued support. The proclamation was approved on a voice vote, and the attendees posed for a photo at the commissioners’ request.
