Independent audit finds no findings for Springfield School Department, chief says

Chief Pat Roach presented the independent accountant's annual audit of the Springfield School Department at the May 13 subcommittee meeting and told members the report contained no findings.

Roach explained the audit follows DESE procedures and that the city's auditing firm tested the items the state requires. He summarized the report format — compliance requirements, procedures performed and results — and said the results showed the procedures were "performed without exception." "You'll be happy to know there are no findings," Roach told the committee. Members thanked Roach for the work and asked that the audit report be shared with all school committee members so they could raise questions at a future meeting if needed.

The presentation was informational; there was no vote on the audit itself. The clerk and committee members then moved on to other business.
