Plaquemines Port reports ferry outage; diesel-electric ferry to go to bid in July 2026

Mr. Lee, director of vessels and security, told the Plaquemines Parish Council the port is operating with a single passenger ferry after the Point Laash landing ferry went out of service and staff are still diagnosing the cause. "We have one ferry in service in Bell Chase. The Point Laash is down," he said, and added that port staff and an assessor have identified a fuel line that "was not all the way secured to the engine" as the likely cause.
