The Southern Columbia Area SD board’s facilities discussion moved Thursday to disposing of two band clothing racks and an aging district band truck, with staff recommending a public-bid or online auction process to recoup funds and fund a replacement trailer. The board opened the conversation after resuming the public meeting following an executive session.
Board members and staff said the district would advertise sales locally and on district social channels, and staff proposed creating an account on a municipal auction platform (commonly called “muni” or municip) to broaden outreach and set minimum reserve prices. One board member noted buyers typically pay a sellers’ premium and suggested verifying market value (for example via Kelly Blue Book or similar) before setting reserves.
District staff said they would gather vehicle details (make, model, year and condition) and recommended staff return to the board with a bidding package that specifies title transfer, buyer removal responsibilities and any required site pickup conditions. The group also discussed whether to accept sealed local bids as an alternative to an online auction and confirmed the board can reject any or all offers if responses do not meet expectations.
No formal motion or vote on disposal terms was recorded during the discussion; staff said they would set up the municipal-selling account and circulate recommended reserve prices and advertisement language to the board for approval before listing the items.
