Lindberg board renews food-service contract with Southwest Food Service for 2026–27

The Lindberg Schools Board of Education approved an amendment and one-year renewal of its contract with Southwest Food Service Excellence (SFE) for July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.

Joel opened the item and explained the district’s relationship with SFE: the district retains all food-service revenue, reimburses SFE for expenditures and pays a management fee tied to the number of meals served (a per-meal fee calculated in accordance with USDA and state guidance). He said annual fee increases are typical and that the district considers SFE a resource to operate a large program.

A motion to approve the amendment was made, seconded and the board voted 7–0 to authorize administration to enter the contract as presented.

The board also recorded two abstentions on unrelated portions of the financial consent items: Andy Lawson abstained on the portion of the financial report concerning Amron Electric, and Julia Voss abstained on a mileage-reimbursement item. Those recusals were specific and were noted in the meeting minutes before the SFE vote.

Why it matters: The contract renewal maintains the district’s current food-service vendor relationship and confirms that Lindberg will continue to run the food program with SFE as a management partner under the per-meal reimbursement and fee structure.

Next steps: Administration was authorized to finalize and execute the contract for the 2026–27 school year under the terms presented to the board.
