The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local Board of Education approved a slate of routine items at its May 14, 2026 meeting, including minutes, financial reports, policy revisions and program schedules.
The board approved minutes for April 9 and April 23, 2026, accepted the April creditors report and authorized two "then and now" payments: $15,861.62 for the Bellbrook Music Booster (winter guard program share) and a payment to Kenworth of Dayton for bus repairs after an accident. Treasurer Mr. Godham told trustees the district has collected roughly 100% of property taxes to date and estimates tax delinquencies near 1%, with one atypical $1,000,000 delinquency the prior February.
Administrators presented and the board approved a consent agenda covering certificated and central-office employment, resignations, leaves, supplemental duties and substitute assignments for the coming school year. Trustees also approved revisions to board policy 5,200 (attendance) to align the policy language with handbook language; discussion focused on whether the policy should specify written versus phone notification by parents.
Other approvals included the 2026 Bellbrook High School summer credit-recovery program (May 27–June 19) at $100 for half credit and $200 for a full credit, with instructor pay listed at $25 per hour; amendments to the high school course-of-study to add Latin honors and list psychology as a CCP option; a new theater summer camp for grades K–6; out-of-state overnight travel for high school basketball teams in June; and revisions to student, athletic and coaches handbooks for 2026–27 (second reads).
The board approved a 2026–27 amendment to the existing five-year food-service contract with Sodexo, noting a modest lunch-price increase (about 10¢, with middle/high school lunches cited at $3.85). Trustees accepted, with gratitude, a $2,000 donation from the Bellbrook Sugar Maple Festival Committee to pay off student lunch debts at Stephen Bell Elementary and Bell Creek Intermediate for the 2025–26 school year.
Votes were taken by roll call on each item; routine motions passed by majority vote as recorded in the meeting transcript. The board also confirmed graduation would be held May 16, 2026, at Holmes Field, Bellbrook High School, with weather contingencies noted.
