The Kanawha County Schools Board of Education on May 14 approved its final operating budgets for fiscal year 2026–27, accepted audited financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2025, and approved a revised personnel agenda, each measure passing on unanimous 5–0 roll‑call votes.
The board approved the current expense budget in the amount read at the meeting, $334,148,441, and approved other funds including a public library access levy of $3,391,731 and a permanent improvement fund amount read as $10,000,000. Board members took consent items A through C together, which included approval of payment of bills for April 2026, budget supplements and transfers, and out‑of‑state travel requests as reflected in the meeting enclosures.
"Nothing has changed since the public hearing the other night," said Mrs. Meadows, summarizing the financial report and reminding the board that year‑end activity and summer payrolls will be posted in June and shift reported percentages. "We're only about 50%" of the year‑to‑date activity, she said, explaining why July reports can show a large shift after year‑end entries.
Mrs. White moved approval of the revised personnel agenda (enclosure 138); the motion was seconded and approved on a roll call in which Mr. Aras, Mr. Crawford, Mrs. Jordan, Mr. Cavender and Mrs. White each voted yes. The consent agenda motion covering bills, budget supplements/transfers and out‑of‑state travel likewise passed on a 5–0 roll call.
The board also voted to accept the audited annual financial statements for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, audited by Perry & Associates CPAs. Auditor Miss Fuller reported a clean audit with "no findings, no adjustments, and no management letter comments," a result the board noted with approval.
The board will return for its next regular session on June 11; staff said detailed budget materials and year‑end reports will be available after the district completes its June accounting processes.
