At its May 14 meeting the Clay County School Board approved several routine but operationally important items: a budget amendment for the 2025–2026 general-purpose fund, retroactive appointment of volunteer coaches for two school teams, and rollover of custodial service contracts with a 3% increase.
Board members noted the budget amendment (No. 5) reflected revenue increases tied to a summer-camp program and internal reallocations in pre-K, special education, substitutes and capital outlay to finish a grant. The amendment was approved by motion and roll call.
The board also approved two volunteer coaching appointments (Clay County High School cheerleading, retroactive to May 4, 2026, and Slade softball) after confirmation that background checks were complete.
On custodial services, principals reported strong satisfaction with the existing providers at Salana K8, Clay County High School and Hermitage Springs. The board approved rolling over the existing contracts with a maximum 3% increase in contract fees. Staff were instructed to solicit bids if a current service provider declined to continue at the rolled-over price and to notify board members if that occurred.
The motions passed by roll call; staff will implement the approved changes and report back as needed.
