LaSalle County Board approves six special-use zoning petitions covering accessory dwellings, home business, kennel and lot split

LaSalle County's board approved a package of zoning petitions from the Zoning Board of Appeals covering multiple properties and requests.

The board approved petition 26-06 (Carol Weedman) to replace an accessory dwelling unit at 717 North Main, Earlville; the ZBA recommended approval 4-1. Petition 26-07 (Brian Batyatus) grants a home-occupation special use to operate motor-sports sales from an accessory building at 448 North 33rd Road; ZBA recommended 4-1 approval. Petition 26-08 (Kim Diss) authorized creation of a lot of less than 35 acres in an A1 district at 2118 North 24th Road with unanimous ZBA support. Petition 26-09 (Taylor Rider) approved a kennel expansion at 3550 North Route 71 to add a 30-by-40 building with 16 additional kennels; the ZBA recommendation was unanimous. Petitions 26-10 and 26-11 approved replacement accessory dwelling units for properties in Marseilles and Ottawa townships respectively, including a conditional approval for the Keith estate requiring removal of the existing mobile home prior to installation of a new unit.

Each item was presented by Mr. Gift, the board heard brief questions about setbacks, septic and well arrangements, and recorded motions and voice votes that carried the approvals. No appeals or controversial testimony were recorded in the board's account for these items at the meeting.
