The LaSalle County Board approved several resolutions and contracts at its May 14 meeting and took action on a contested policy resolution.
The board authorized an extension of the existing Landcomp (LANCOM) memorandum of agreement through Jan. 30, 2027 to allow time to negotiate a successor agreement. It also approved extending the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency intergovernmental delegation agreement through June 30, 2031; the approved extension increases the county's annual delegation funding to $152,000 per year from prior amounts.
The board approved a five-year property lease for the Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) building in Peru with Rakesh Garg, MD, raising the monthly rent from $4,200 to $5,000 starting in August.
On capital projects, the board awarded the LaSalle County jail chiller replacement contract to John Service and Sales LLC as the lowest responsive bidder for $1,015,400 with an alternate ground-cover bid of $27,000; the roll call recorded one abstention.
On policy, the board debated a resolution urging the state of Illinois to opt into a federal scholarship tax-credit program. After extended questions about uncertainty over administrative rules and scholarship-granting-organization controls, a motion to table the resolution indefinitely passed 18-9.
Additional business included approving travel and training requests for county staff under ordinance 23-79, and voting to dispose of surplus county personal property by public auction as permitted by state law.
