County meeting authorizes filling two part-time solid waste vacancies

A special meeting of the county's governing body approved the agenda and authorized the solid waste department to fill two part-time vacancies, officials said.

The presiding official opened the special meeting and asked for a motion to approve the agenda. A motion was recorded as "Motion made by Brad, second by David," and the group voted verbally in favor; the motion passed.

The presiding official then reported that Mr. Roach, the solid waste department director, had emailed to report one existing part-time vacancy and that another employee resigned over the weekend, leaving two vacancies for the department. The official said one former worker had expressed interest in returning and that the department planned to follow its usual hiring process for the remaining opening.

"I'll make a motion to allow him to fill both those part-time vacancies," Brad said; Gail seconded the motion. The group voted verbally in favor with no nays and the motion passed.

Paul moved to adjourn the special meeting; David seconded. The board voted in favor and the meeting was adjourned. No additional timeline or dates for hiring were provided during the meeting.
