After returning from executive session the council considered and approved a resolution authorizing the use of eminent domain to acquire multiple right-of-way parcels for the Cleveland Gibbs Road widening project.
Town Attorney Dean read Resolution No. 26-41 in full, specifying multiple parcel descriptions and acreage across Denton County deed records, including ownership references such as Domingo and Guadalupe Salinas; Joseph and Cheryl Tiscarino; Enhanced Recyclers International LLC; and Emily Sadighin, trustee of CAMI Real Estate Trust. The reading described parcels identified by acreage and deed/plat references to permit acquisition for roadway, drainage and utility improvements related to Cleveland Gibbs Road.
Councilor Holmes moved to approve the resolution as presented; Mayor Pro Tem Lawrence seconded. The motion carried unanimously, 7–0. The resolution also authorized the town manager to execute necessary agreements and to contract professional real-estate consulting services and agents to act on the town’s behalf.
Why it matters: the resolution authorizes the town to acquire private property interests needed to construct roadway improvements; such actions directly affect the named property owners and are a prerequisite to proceeding with the Cleveland Gibbs Road widening project.
What’s next: staff will proceed with the real-estate agents and consulting services authorized by the resolution and pursue necessary acquisition steps consistent with the resolution and applicable law.
