District names Jamie Salo overall teacher of the year, honors site winners

During the meeting the board recognized site teachers of the year from campuses across the district and announced the districtwide Teacher of the Year. The board president described a volunteer committee that selected the overall winner and held a luncheon on April 18.

Jamie Salo (Monav Vista) was named the district's overall teacher of the year; the president remarked on Salo’s long service (23 years overall, 11 years in kindergarten) and praised her classroom environment and leadership. The board also named and thanked the site winners who attended the meeting: Cfield Paris (Emmerrosa), Celeste Garin (Desert View), Janette Sanchez, John Aie (Benjamin), Crystal Hopkins (Jack), Gretchen Shimemer, Shannon Andreoli (Lava), Dia Costa (Lincoln), Stephanie Hernandez, Edgar Trojo (Miller), Nicole Freeman (Antiquary), Cheryl Fisher (Newa), Amy Ryder (Caillou), Marian Galdi (Sierra), and Penny Fishnet (Westwood) as listed in the meeting record.

Board members congratulated winners, thanked teachers for their service during Teacher Appreciation Week, and closed the recognition before moving to consent items.
