Council refers YMCA road closure, barking-dog complaint, sidewalk-alcohol request and housing-plan review to committees

The council received several communications and referred them to standing committees for review.

Kelly Fuette of the Keene Family YMCA requested closure of Summit Road for a youth triathlon scheduled for June 7; the council referred the request to the Planning, Licenses & Development Committee for consideration of traffic and public-safety logistics.

A resident, identified in the communication as Terry Oor, asked the council to consider regulations allowing the city to find dog owners whose animals create disturbances from daytime barking; the mayor referred the letter to the Municipal Services, Facilities & Infrastructure Committee for review.

Thomas Dufalt of Black Cloud Brewing Company requested permission to serve alcohol at their sidewalk cafe at 100 Main Street; the council referred that request to the Planning, Licenses & Development Committee.

Separately, Councilor Philip M. Jones submitted a draft resolution opposing the downshifting of state costs to local taxpayers; the mayor referred the draft resolution to the Finance, Organization & Personnel Committee for study, noting it would be sent to the governor and the state delegation if adopted.

These items were referred for committee review; no final council action was taken on the underlying requests at this meeting.
