Aurora schedules Water Wise Day for June 6; council members invited to introduce speakers

Diana Dunwood of Aurora's water conservation team invited council members to attend and participate in the city's third annual Water Wise Day on Saturday, June 6 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Aurora Water Wise Garden outside City Hall.

Dunwood described family-friendly activities, a garden tour, three expert speakers (including an East Cherry Creek Valley water‑conservation specialist and a Butterfly Pavilion speaker on pollinators), and participation by regional partners such as Denver Urban Gardens and Tagawa Gardens. The event will offer interpretation in Spanish and Amharic and include giveaways and raffle prizes; the first 100 attendees will receive breakfast burritos.

Staff asked council members to sign up to introduce speakers; several members said they were able to participate pending calendar confirmation. Additional outreach to local vendors and irrigation companies was discussed for supplies and giveaways.

What happens next: staff will circulate times and speaker bios for council members who volunteer to introduce sessions and will finalize event logistics.
