The City of Oak Creek Plan Commission voted May 12 to adopt Resolution No. 2026-2, amending the comprehensive-plan future land-use designation for the property at 900 West Drexel Avenue from industrial to mixed use.
Todd (staff) told the commission the site is currently zoned manufacturing (M-1) and that the amendment would not change zoning immediately but would allow future mixed uses — including stacked residential and commercial or a horizontal mixed-use PUD — to be pursued if rezoning is later requested. He said the change is intended to help create a retail corridor between Drexel Town Square and I-94.
The applicant’s representative, Eric Main (Rinka, representing NeoBrick), said the amendment is “about starting to attract a potential developer who may look at some other land uses for the parcel.”
Commissioners asked few questions; several expressed support for adding pedestrian-oriented retail and a stronger connection to Drexel Town Square. Christine (commissioner) said the change “would be a very welcome change from the neighbors,” noting convenience for residents.
The commission moved and adopted Resolution No. 2026-2 with no substantive conditions. The change updates the comprehensive plan’s guidance for future requests; any rezoning or specific development proposals would return to the city for separate review.
