Oak Creek’s Plan Commission approved May 12 a plan sign program for a four-tenant industrial building at 7616 South 6th Street that sets a unified sign theme (black backgrounds with silver accents) and permits wall signs, awning signs, a refaced multi-tenant monument sign and a wayfinding sign.
Staff explained that the plan-sign program sets the theme for future tenant signs and that all future signs must comply with the program. The monument sign will be refaced to accommodate multiple tenants; each tenant will be allowed an awning sign at its entrance. The program includes a condition that it becomes null and void if sign permits for the included signs are not issued within 12 months of approval.
Applicant Dylan Braun confirmed awning locations and said the monument sign is not being illuminated at this time; commissioners asked about the visual effect if individual tenants later chose illumination, and staff clarified that refacing the single monument sign means illumination would be a landlord decision and must comply with code.
The commission approved the plan sign program with standard conditions to maintain code compliance and the 12-month permit issuance requirement.
