Clawson council handles routine business: seniors payments, street signs, dumpster and clerk hiring

In addition to budget and policy work, the Clawson council addressed several routine operational items: senior graduation payments, street signage, a community dumpster pilot and advertising for a clerk.

Council members confirmed the town's customary $50 payment to graduating seniors and discussed preparing signed envelopes and using cash. The treasurer noted a $350 water-lease payment to the Canal Company and other routine checks processed this month.

On street signage, members agreed to drive through town to inventory needed stop signs and 'children' signs and to identify a supplier; one member offered to locate a state sign shop contact. The council also discussed providing a dumpster for a short cleanup period; members raised the risk of abuse but agreed to place the item on next month's agenda for a formal decision and discussed potential camera/collection options.

Regarding staffing, the council agreed to advertise the open clerk position (locally on Facebook and in print) and asked staff to circulate a brief expression-of-interest or letter of intent quickly so training can begin if a candidate is selected.
