Town Manager John Manjurati provided a series of facility and development updates, reporting that several community projects are nearing completion and that the town approved a small planning study for a historic property.
Manjurati said the Ace of Parlin House project behind town hall has a final detail remaining before completion and that the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel on Concord Road has been refurbished to be accessible and will open soon. "It really looks nice," he said of the chapel.
He reported McManus Manor, a 40-unit housing project, is "pretty close" to completion with driveway work and rooftop solar underway and expected to be finished this summer. Manjurati also encouraged residents to participate in a River Street Park naming survey for the former Lazaro Paving site and said the town will accept suggestions via its website.
On historic property reuse, Manjurati said town meeting approved $10,000 to study Morrison Farm and that the town will paint the building this summer while staff develop reuse options. He invited ideas from residents and noted several town-owned buildings are being considered for reuse or sale; he cited a sale of a former firehouse-adjacent property (Veil Defense Building) as an example where the town is pursuing redevelopment.
What happens next
The Ace of Parlin House will be available for community events once final work completes; McManus Manor tenants should be able to access new housing later this summer; the Morrison Farm study will begin with the approved $10,000 design appropriation.
Provenance: Discussion spans SEG 069 (Ace of Parlin) through SEG 1261 (Morrison Farm study).
