Mayor Walker announced that York City will launch a "pothole patrol" on May 18, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., asking residents in the West End (Section 3) to report potholes to the highway bureau at (717) 849-2320. He said crews will respond and fill reported potholes throughout that week.
The program is part of the mayor's "6 and 26" initiatives, which Walker tied to local efforts named Strong Block, Strong York, Clean Green and Powell. Walker directed residents to "call our highway bureau and report a pothole" on May 18 and repeated the number for clarity: (717) 849-2320.
Walker said the city will divide York into four sections for the campaign and that May 18 will focus on Section 3, the West End. He defined the area's coverage as streets from West Market, south of West Market, and west of South George Street, and cited neighborhoods such as Newton, West Princess Street and Hope Avenue as examples of streets that will be covered.
"You call it, we fix it," Walker said, urging residents to report problems during the scheduled window. The announcement described a short-term, targeted repair push rather than a citywide program at once; crews will carry out repairs reported on May 18 over the following days as part of the weeklong effort.
