Daviess County fiscal court approves routine contracts, grants, bids and personnel moves

The Daviess County Fiscal Court approved multiple routine administrative items at its May 14 meeting, including grant agreements, contract renewals, bid awards, and personnel actions.

Treasurer Mr. Johnson presented a series of items that the court approved by voice vote: an annual standing order to preapprove recurring payroll and utility expenses; transfer of $108,859 from the solid waste operating fund to the closure fund; county clerk claim of $18,192.60 for motor vehicle and boat tax bill preparation; and multiple grant agreements including a $30,000 household hazardous waste grant and a Kentucky Pride Fund recycling grant for $13,735.12 with an in-kind match.

The court approved a joint-funding agreement to continue the county's $2,000 annual share for a digital river gauge operated by the USGS/OKI Water Science Center. The court also accepted public improvements in Woodland Ridge (release of surety for Unit 9) and approved updates to a parking-lot rental agreement with First Baptist Church. Procurement officer Miss Sturgeon recommended and the court approved renewals and awards including fire-rescue uniforms to Siegel's Uniforms and fire inspection services to Johnson Controls Fire Protection. The court awarded RFQ number 2526-75 to Brown Service Company for $22,200 to relocate a water line associated with a bridge replacement project; county engineer said the related box-culvert contract would be bid in June for completion by September.

Personnel actions approved included promotion of Ron Whitworth to transfer-station manager and reclassification of Robert Askins from seasonal to full time, both effective May 10, 2026.
