District administrators reported on multiple student-program items, including early-college participation, testing schedules and proposed changes to the athletic code.
Regarding early college and Start College Now, administrators said students are taking dual-credit courses at local technical colleges. One administrator reported that 11 students are taking classes at LTC, with additional enrollments at other regional institutions; staff framed this as increasing access to career and technical credentials and reducing the pressure that all students must attend four‑year college immediately after graduation.
On testing, the high school will run a staggered PreACT/ACT schedule to accommodate bus routes: freshmen and sophomores will begin earlier; juniors will start later; seniors will not be in the building on the ACT day. Administrators said the district will use online ACT testing for the first time based on peer-district experience.
Athletics staff proposed code changes to reduce the time students miss for academic ineligibility: more frequent grade checks (midquarter and quarter) and a five‑day window for students to restore eligibility before longer ineligibility periods apply. The board discussed aligning grade standards with neighboring Big East schools by counting a D or an F toward ineligibility.
The board asked staff to move forward with details and to bring final athletic-code language back for formal adoption if needed.
