Director Jackson led a discussion on a draft request for proposals to hire a superintendent search firm, asking the board to confirm essential and desired criteria and to emphasize diversity among firm staff.
"I won't put the points — I'll just indicate what the board's looking for," Director Jackson said, describing a multi-stage process to vet applicants and invite finalists to present. Board members supported including subtotals for essential criteria to make scoring more transparent.
The board discussed timeline expectations: select a search firm before the end of the school year, begin community forums and outreach late summer, solicit applications after the holidays, and complete interviews and selection in late winter or early spring. Board members also requested that the RFP reflect the needs of administrators who will work with the superintendent and said the search consultant assigned to the district should be the individual who presents at the board interview.
No formal vote was held at the workshop; the draft RFP will be refined and returned for board action at a later meeting.
