Library outlines new lockers, sorter, gates, staffing and summer programming tied to the move

Circulation supervisor Diane Bashoff reviewed operational plans for when the library returns to the renovated facility and gave usage statistics.

Bashoff said the circulation team will have 12 staffers (6 full‑time, 6 part‑time) with two vacancies at present and described upgrades coming with the move: an upgraded sorter, new gates that integrate with patron‑counting software, a drive‑up return, and 23 outdoor lockers for holds. She explained the lockers are first‑come/first‑served, will be waterproof and have an awning, and will include a range of slot sizes. “There will be 23 slots. Now all the majority will be close to 5 inches in height. A few of them will be, like, 10 and a half inches,” she said.

Bashoff provided recent usage numbers: “Total items checked in through the sorter last fiscal year 2425 was about 652,246,” and she said the library saw about 249,796 visitors in the same fiscal year. Staff also said holds placed in lockers will be held for five days and that curbside and in‑library pickup options will continue.

On outreach and programming tied to the reopening, community services staff reported 121 programs with 3,788 attendees in the past year and described partnerships (Texas Trees Foundation, Texas A&M AgriLife, Joyful Hooves) and plans to use social media, email campaigns and branded collateral to promote the reopening and grand‑opening events.
