The Missisquoi Valley School District board voted to accept the business-office audit for the 2022–23 school year and received a first reading of an updated, state-required wellness policy.
Administration provided the full audit and management letter and reported ‘‘basically no findings’’ and a single suggestion to adopt an investment policy. Don moved to accept the audit and management letter; the motion was seconded and carried.
On policy, administration said the Agency of Education revised the required wellness language and that the change is largely a format and implementation update rather than a substantive change. The policy requires the district to have a heterogeneous wellness committee that includes board and community members, students and staff; administrators will prepare a short survey and discuss how to adapt existing school wellness teams to meet the new requirement. The board plans a formal adoption vote at the next meeting after public warning and comment opportunity.
Board members commended the business office for the audit results and asked administration to draft an investment-policy template in coordination with VSA/VBA guidance.
The board recorded the audit acceptance vote and scheduled the wellness-policy adoption for a future meeting.
