At the start of its reorganizational meeting the Missisquoi Valley School District board elected officers and approved a series of standard annual motions.
Members nominated and elected Jen Chaler as board chair, Renck Darnell Martin as vice chair and Peter as clerk by voice vote. The board also moved unanimously to abide by the Vermont School Boards Association (VSBA) code of ethics.
In routine annual motions the board authorized district administration to seek grants, adopt plans and execute collaborative agreements on behalf of the district in compliance with laws and assurances; members also authorized the chair or vice chair to sign professional staff contracts after a superintendent recommendation and allowed the chair or vice chair to sign federal grants and other contracts as needed when specific board authorization is not otherwise required.
The board appointed the St. Albans Messenger as the district
uthorized newspaper for legal ads and notices and accepted the consent agenda, including minutes of prior meetings and the warrant. Members welcomed new board members and discussed onboarding steps including a VSBA training module.
