Votes at a glance: board approves oceanography trip, calendars and supplemental contracts

At the conclusion of the meeting, the board completed several action votes recorded in the agenda.

- Overnight oceanography field trip: The board moved, seconded and approved an overnight oceanography field trip for the PCI oceanography class. The trip is a multi-day field experience to the Olympic Peninsula for a small cohort of students; funding sources include course-dedicated funds and Title IV grant funds where permitted.

- 2023–24 and 2024–25 calendars: The board voted to approve the 2023–24 calendar (version 3.0), which converts selected early-release Wednesdays into full days and reallocates built-in snow days to meet instructional-hour requirements, and also approved the draft 2024–25 calendar as presented. The Teachers Association had reviewed and given tentative approval to the proposed 2023–24 changes.

- Supplemental contracts: The board approved supplemental contracts for extracurricular positions and additional service days, including PCIA robotics, Knowledge Bowl, science club, ASB adviser, library manager, midyear and end-of-year in-service days, and the district’s after-school program. Contracts were reviewed by ESD HR and payroll prior to approval.
