Board authorizes bid process and contract for new Buckeye Elementary kindergarten playground

The Buckeye Union School District Board authorized staff on April 8 to accept bids and enter into a contract with the lowest responsible and responsive bidder to construct a new kindergarten playground at Buckeye Elementary.

Assistant Superintendent Jackie McHaney and Director of Facilities Brian McCahon presented the project background, described the bid process and staff recommendation, and asked the Board to approve moving forward with award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. Board Member Brenda Hanson-Smith moved to approve the authorization; Board Member Scott Masten seconded. The motion carried 4-0.

Board members expressed support for improving facilities and enhancing play spaces for young students. No public comment was recorded on this item.

Staff will proceed with the public bid process and return to the Board with contract award recommendations consistent with district procurement policies.
