Administrators updated the board on ACTI (the regional career-technical initiative). They reported ongoing negotiations to form a first collective-bargaining agreement for teachers who previously were employed by Gettysburg, and said ACTI leadership recently hosted a representative from the governor’s office to review program needs.
Officials said the Authority overseeing ACTI has approximately $500,000 available to begin land acquisition and that ACTI staff will present proposed project costs and options to member districts in coming months. Administrators explained any future facility plan would require districts to indicate how much debt service they could afford; district contributions would be proportional to projected enrollment at ACTI.
Administrators stressed there is currently no allocation in the district budget for ACTI renovations or expansions. They also noted that building a facility would carry ongoing operating and staffing costs beyond construction debt service. The board was told ACTI staff will present facility-size and cost options (in increments) to help districts determine feasible commitments.
The update concluded with a reminder that decisions about participation and debt commitments will come later in the process and that more detailed financial proposals will be provided for board review.
