Jenna, the library director, presented highlights from the West Fargo Public Library's 2025 annual report and asked the board to accept the document and authorize her to present it to the city commission. The board voted to approve the annual report and to direct Jenna to submit it to the commission.
The director told the board the library's collection totals more than 220,000 items and that total checkouts in 2025 topped roughly 242,000 items, a roughly 50% increase over five years. Electronic usage rose about 113% over the same period. Jenna said the library estimates residents saved nearly $4.0 million last year by borrowing rather than buying materials, averaging about $96 per resident or about $208 per active library card.
Board members asked whether the full draft posted in the packet included additional supporting data; Jenna said the packet contains the complete draft and she would offer a shorter summary when she presents to the commission. Following brief questions, a board member moved to approve the report; the motion was seconded, called by voice and passed. The board then moved to direct Jenna to submit the report to the city commission; that motion also passed.
The board's acceptance clears the way for the director to brief the city commission on the library's year-to-date performance and the full annual report. No additional action was taken at the meeting on any policy changes from the report.
