Revere Board of Health: influenza waning locally, measles rising statewide; body‑art license approved

The Revere Board of Health opened its February public meeting with routine reports from public‑health staff and inspectional services, approved the January minutes and voted to grant a body‑art practitioner license.

Public‑health report: Municipal staff presented the February communicable‑disease update. "Our influenza numbers are significantly decreased from the previous few months," said Lauren Buck, who also said the department is monitoring two mpox cases and that COVID‑19 case counts are leveling off. Buck noted that the U.S. had recorded 104 measles cases in 2025 and stressed that ‘‘measles is the most contagious virus on Earth’’ and that vaccination protects most people.

Local programs and outreach: Buck announced Narcan training and a free Narcan giveaway on March 4, a new SOS (Shame On Stigma) podcast launching March 4–5 in partnership with Revere TV, and monthly public‑health nurse office hours at Revere Public Library starting March 9 offering blood‑pressure checks and consultations.

Inspectional services: The inspectional report summarized enforcement and inspections for the month: 69 certificates of fitness and 31 routine food inspections, with 412 trash violations and other exterior sanitation actions recorded.

Administrative actions: The board approved the January meeting minutes by voice vote and voted to approve an individual practitioner body‑art license for Piedad Nikira Quinto Garcia after an inspection on Jan. 25; three board members voiced approval.

Next steps: The board concluded the meeting after agreeing to continue the kratom regulation discussion at its March meeting and moving other routine agenda items forward.
