Monongalia County commissioners approved a series of routine consent items and proclamations during the May 13 meeting.
The county administrator presented the consent agenda — including 12 exonerations totaling $2,367.91, minutes for May 6, vouchers across multiple accounts and payroll — and the commission approved the consent agenda by voice vote.
Commissioners adopted proclamations recognizing National Police Memorial Week and designating May as Better Hearing and Speech Month; representatives from the Quota Club of Morgantown accepted the hearing‑and‑speech proclamation and invited commissioners to the club’s centennial celebration.
The commission approved requisition number 114 for the University Town Center Economic Opportunity Development District subaccount in the amount of $1,113,003.25, with staff noting year‑to‑date sales‑tax collections were approximately 11.29% higher than last year.
Staff also presented correspondence items including a fully executed escrow agreement tied to the health‑department property sale, a reappointment request for Donna Tennant to the Mon County Board of Health, and a Morgantown Utility Board request for the commission’s customary $5,000 contribution to the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day. Commissioners instructed staff to place the hazardous‑waste funding request on a future agenda for decision.
