Isa Brianna Ortiz pleads guilty; court sentences her to two years in prison

Isa Brianna Ortiz pleaded guilty in the 187th District Court and the court accepted a plea agreement that stipulated punishment to two years in prison.

During the plea colloquy, the court confirmed Ortiz reviewed discovery and understood the rights she waived, including her right to a jury trial and the right of appeal under the plea agreement. Defense counsel Matthew Brown confirmed the defense had reviewed the materials and advised the court the defendant understood the plea.

The court accepted the stipulated evidence, found there was sufficient evidence to support the plea, and sentenced Ortiz to two years in prison with credit for any time served. The court also recommended placement in a therapeutic community and ordered no unsupervised contact with minors. The court noted the plea waived certain appellate rights available in other circumstances.
