Chilton County approves small grant, healthcare appointment and animal‑shelter personnel changes

At its May 12 meeting the Chilton County Commission took several administrative votes: it unanimously accepted a $2,500 semi-quincentennial community grant for the Chilton County Courthouse dedication; closed nominations and unanimously appointed John Gotcher to the county Health Care Authority; and approved multiple animal-shelter staffing actions.

Commissioners voted unanimously to remove Victoria Cup from payroll effective May 11, 2026, to reclassify Tara Green as interim animal care supervisor effective immediately with no change in pay, and to authorize advertising for a 30-day recruitment for the animal care supervisor position. Commissioners said the animal-shelter items were time-sensitive and the temporary reclassification will maintain continuity of services while the hiring process proceeds.
