Marshall County commissioners voted May 20 to approve several development, procurement and public‑safety items recommended by county staff.
The engineering department recommended approval of Cedar Ridge Apartments, a 20‑unit development in District 2 on New Hope Highway in Grant near Simpson Point Road; the developer will own and maintain access drives and parking. Commissioners also approved Hidden Cove Subdivision in District 2, a tiny‑home development dividing roughly 0.56 acres into five lots; the health department must approve individual septic systems when required.
The commission authorized staff to go out for bids on a storm shelter for Holiday Shores in District 2, after a commissioner noted repeated efforts to secure targeted funding for that neighborhood’s shelter needs.
Separately, the commission approved a contract for a pay study with a consultant listed in the record as 'Congregate and Associates Incorporated' (transcript spellings vary) for $44,500 to be paid from the general fund balance. The commission recorded affirmative votes for each item.
Staff noted project conditions where applicable, including septic approvals and private ownership of internal infrastructure for the apartment project. The county will proceed to implement the pay study contract and release bid documents for the storm shelter.
