The Lancaster Independent School District Board of Trustees on May 13 voted unanimously to approve the canvass and certification of results from the district’s May 2 bond election, declaring that propositions A, B, C and D passed.
The board clerk read the canvass and totals into the record and the board moved to approve the certification. “Motion was made by Secretary Carolyn Morris, seconded by Vice President Queenie Nichols. Motion carried unanimously,” the clerk announced.
The board also read and approved an accompanying resolution and order canvassing the returns that includes findings required under Texas law about public notice, appointment of election officers and delivery of returns. The clerk stated the board’s formal order making those findings and attaching a true copy of the order to the minutes.
Trustees did not debate the substance of the propositions during the canvass item; the action before the board was the formal certification and the approving motion. The transcript shows the board posted required notices and followed the statutory canvass process under the Texas Election Code and Texas Government Code Chapter 551.
Next steps: the approved canvass and resolution complete the board’s formal certification of the May 2 bond results; the district will maintain the official record of the canvass as read into the minutes.
