The Blackstone-Millville Regional School Committee voted July 27 to accept an Acceleration Academy grant from the U.S. Department of Education totaling $82,130. Superintendent Jason DeFalco said the award will fund programming to start school two weeks early to support students who need additional instruction.
DeFalco told the committee the grant covers a wide range of grades despite the Department’s form, and the district plans to focus services on students who need the support most. The committee approved acceptance of the grant and thanked staff for authoring the application.
At the same meeting, DeFalco also reported that the school-building committee has met and is moving forward; the next meeting was scheduled for Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. at the high school library. Committee members encouraged the public to follow those meetings for future capital and renovation planning.
