Committee introduces Denise Carrier as candidate for director of finance and operations; contract to be reviewed in executive session

The Blackstone Millville Regional School Committee introduced Denise Carrier as the selected candidate for Director of Finance and Operations during its March 9 meeting. Committee members praised Carrier’s background in accounting, finance and school leadership; she is set to begin on March 20.

Carrier told the committee that during her visit she was struck by the people and the district’s focus on students and results. "What really struck me the most was the people," she said, describing time spent in data meetings and classroom observations.

The superintendent noted the hiring process was lengthy and that the committee must review and approve Carrier’s contract in executive session. The committee placed approval of her contract on the executive session agenda and will vote to finalize terms there, staff said.

The introduction was presented as an informational item; the committee will not finalize the contract until the closed-session review and vote.
