Committee hears FY23 budget progress; facilities report details dugouts, courts and pump repairs

The business office reported that the FY23 budget book has been compiled and shared with the committee and town finance committees. District staff said they met with Blackstone's finance committee and were scheduled to meet Millville's finance committee on May 4; after the finance committees' support, the budget will advance to the towns' annual meetings.

Facilities provided a detailed update: boys' baseball dugout steel beams are on site and roofing work will follow; the girls' field completion is delayed pending a new concrete slab for dugout foundations; topsoil and field grading remain in progress. Tennis‑court sealing is waiting for five consecutive evenings above 50°F, per the vendor, and the district expects to be prioritized when the window occurs.

Heating system work was discussed: a circulator pump for the high school heating system has been ordered as an additional backup and a separate repair kit dispute for another pump remains under discussion with the plumbing contractor. The MES pump repair has been completed, removing the need for overnight staffing at that site.

The committee also considered several facility‑use requests (including a Millville request to host the annual town meeting at the elementary school). A motion by Tara, seconded by Kerry, approved the facility requests unanimously.
