Commissioners approve expenditures, contracts and proclamations; ordinance to add $5 vehicle fee passes

The Bedford County Board of Commissioners approved a range of routine and substantive items by voice vote during the meeting.

Approvals included the minutes for 04/14/2026; the county’s top-10 expenditures (vendors and amounts were read aloud and accepted); a space-available agreement with a local service center (07/01/2026–06/30/2027); a provider agreement for children and youth services with Avoncoke International LLC; and a county assistance agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. The board also adopted proclamations recognizing ALS Awareness Month, National Small Business Month, and National Police Week. Personnel actions and several union contract approvals were also adopted.

Notable formal action: the board adopted Ordinance No. 05.12 0.2026 to impose a $5 fee per nonexempt vehicle registration under Act 89, with one recorded dissenting vote. The chair said the fee would generate an estimated $330,000 annually for roads and bridges.
