Rules committee adopts May 11 calendar, adds amendment refiling requirement

The chair of the Rules committee called the May 7 hearing to order and led the panel in adopting a proposed calendar for Monday, May 11, which the chair said would include countering three bills and a step-up refiling requirement for amendments to those bills.

The chair moved adoption of the calendar “pursuant to rule 1.2, 1, 3, 0.3, 3,” and asked for discussion; none was offered. The chair then called for the voice vote: “All those in favor. Please say Aye,” and announced the calendar approved after the Aye response.

Committee procedures put the calendar into effect for May 11 and apply a higher refiling threshold for amendments to the listed measures, the chair said when proposing the motion. The committee did not record a roll-call tally in the hearing transcript; the approval was by voice vote.

The adoption sets the committee’s schedule for the upcoming unanticipated session next week, and establishes filing and amendment deadlines that will govern consideration of the three bills on that calendar.
