Council and CFD boards set May 21 hearings on tentative CFD budgets; magistrate nomination moved to agenda

Mesa City Council and three Community Facility District (CFD) boards handled routine fiscal business before the council’s study session on May 14, 2026.

At the Cadence CFD, Eastark CFD No. 1 and Eastark CFD No. 2 board meetings, each board approved prior minutes, unanimously approved a tentative fiscal year 2026–27 budget and set May 21, 2026 as the public hearing and action date on the final budget and tax levy. No public speakers spoke on the items; the motions passed unanimously among those present.

Later in the study session, the council moved to place magistrate candidate Jacob Brown on a future City Council agenda for formal appointment. The motion to refer the appointment to a future meeting passed unanimously.

The items will return to council on or after the May 21 public hearing for final action and any required votes.
