Little Rock board hears rezoning request for 4.8-acre site on Jameson Road

At an agenda-setting meeting May 19, the Little Rock Board of Directors reviewed a rezoning application, Z 10281, for a 4.8-acre parcel at the 7600 block of Jameson Road. A planning staff member said the property owner seeks to reclassify the western portion of the lot from R2 (residential) to I2 (industrial) and label the eastern roughly 2.7 acres as OS (open space) because it sits in the floodway and is not buildable.

The rezoning, the staff member said, would align the western portion with surrounding parcels that already carry I2 zoning. "The property owner of the 4.8 acre property located in at the 7600 block of Jameson Road is requesting the rezoning be reclassified from R2 to I2 and OS," the staff member told the board during the meeting.

Director Adcock said she had received calls about the item and requested that it be held separate for additional review. "I would like to hold that separate," she said, signaling a desire for more information or community input before the board acts.

The staff member noted the eastern portion’s floodway designation would prevent development on that segment of the parcel; the rezoning request is therefore intended to formalize existing land-use patterns while protecting floodway area as OS. The board did not take a vote at the agenda-setting session; Director Adcock’s request to hold the item separate indicates the rezoning will return for additional consideration or briefing at a later meeting.

The board did not set a final decision on Z 10281 during the May 19 agenda-setting meeting. Staff or the applicant are expected to provide additional information before the item returns to the board.
