The Ocean View School District Board of Trustees on May 12 reported it had hired Carrie Mamrot as the district’s executive director of special education.
The appointment was taken in closed session and reported out in open session. Clerk Sers said the motion to appoint Mamrot was made by Trustee Saers, seconded by Trustee Gors, and carried by roll call with four votes in favor and one absence (Vice President Patricia Singer). The board introduced Mamrot and invited her to speak to the meeting.
Mamrot thanked the board, the superintendent and district staff for the appointment and said she looks forward to collaborating with education specialists, principals, related-service providers, classified staff and district teams to build inclusive, supportive learning environments and improve student outcomes.
Board members offered congratulations and posed for a group photo with Mamrot and her family following her remarks. The meeting proceeded with the rest of its agenda after public introductions.
The appointment was recorded as a formal personnel action that originated in closed session; the district did not present a public job description or competitive candidate list at the open hearing.
