Mayor Rayon Le highlighted local education investments during the State of the City address, pointing to a $140 million bond voters approved last year to upgrade facilities across the district.
Le said University High School has added new offices and restrooms, and construction is under way on a performing-arts wing at Ferndale High School. She said other projects will include renovations to gym lockers, lavatories and athletic fields to support student opportunities.
The mayor also praised youth programs and extracurricular achievement: the Ferndale Middle School robotics team known as the Giggle Pickles reached the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championships in Houston, finishing among the top teams and advancing to semifinals.
Le encouraged residents to attend “Soup with the Schools,” a community event that brings families, staff and the public together for transparent discussion of student data, engagement and bond-construction updates.
