Youth Council to create application for Communications Director and backup role

The Youth Council voted to produce an application for the Communications Director position and a Backup Communications Director role. Member Jackson made the motion and Member Sanchez seconded; the motion carried by voice vote.

Administrative staff said they will provide a model application used previously; once applications are produced, Connie Ryland will assist in finding candidates and the Youth Council will interview applicants and appoint a Communications Director by a simple majority vote. The backup director will be a current Youth Council member appointed to assist with marketing, social media and event promotion.

Why it matters: Designating a communications lead helps the council publicize events, post meeting notices, and build outreach for projects and trips. The council will review candidate applications at a future meeting before making an appointment.
