Enterprise Fleet tells Cameron Parish jury leasing, resale and fixed‑maintenance program cut operating costs

Dustin Hines, client strategy manager for Enterprise Fleet's Cameron Parish account, gave an annual update on the parish's 28‑vehicle fleet.

Hines said rising new‑vehicle prices have increased replacement costs but strong resale values and coordinated resale timing have helped the parish limit net expense. "The average price of a vehicle is $50,000... when we partnered with you the average was about $37,000," Hines said, and noted that resale timing and a fixed maintenance program reduced operating costs and improved budget predictability. He said the parish fleet’s total value is roughly $961,000, with parish equity of about $370,000.

Hines highlighted a fixed maintenance program that covers many repairs up to 100,000 miles and annual mileage reviews that saved an estimated $37,000 in fuel costs in 2025 by optimizing vehicle sizes and engine choices. He also described how Enterprise outsources local maintenance to vendors while covering the cost under the program.

Why it matters: The briefing outlined tradeoffs between leasing and purchasing and a near‑term plan to continue leveraging resale markets and a fixed maintenance model. Jurors asked whether maintenance is outsourced (it is) and for documentation to explain resale proceeds and equity positions. Staff said they will follow up with contract language and resale reports for the voting agenda as needed.
