Commissioners approve routine personnel, Millis cemetery mapping request and Quincy High civic rate

The Norfolk County Board of Commissioners approved a set of routine administrative items April 29, including personnel rehires, town service requests and a community event rate.

Commissioners moved to approve rehiring Brenda Shapiro, Edmund Tiabasi and Christopher Holmes as seasonal golf associates at the Walston Recreation Facility and to approve contingent employment for Taylor Ning as a seasonal golf associate. The board also recognized Steven Doyle for 10 years of service at the recreation facility. Motions were seconded and approved by voice vote.

The board approved a request from the town of Millis that county survey and engineering staff prepare a schematic map of a cemetery, including internal roadways and section labels, to help locate gravesites. County staff said the work was delayed while finishing a prior Oak Grove Farm project and that the department can take on the Millis mapping.

Separately, the board reviewed a written request from Danny Kelly on behalf of the Quincy High Boys Basketball Hall of Fame to receive the county’s civic rate for a tournament at the President’s Golf Course in Quincy. Commissioners noted the organization’s long local history and voted to grant the civic rate.
